Well known cryptozoologist, Loren Coleman, has heard something on the grapevine about an event at Fort Augustus. I checked with the local cruise company at Fort Augustus, but they know nothing about it, so we will just have to wait and see what transpires. The only other time I can recall someone fainting at the sight of the creature was the 1916 James Cameron story when a large hump reared up near his boat and he passed out!
It is to be noted that even when a newspaper has the rights to print a photograph, they can dither and defer, depending on what the news of the day is to fill their pages. This was the case with the Kate Powell fin photograph which took a few days to appear.

Great news..just in time for my arrival in fort augustus. Lets hope the tullimunstrem hangs around for a bit :-) ....Roy
ReplyDeleteThere definitively exists something in Loch Ness - that is absolutely indisputable except to the willfully ignorant, intentionally difficult, and the irrationally skeptical. The central question is what the heck it is. The observations and descriptions just don't mesh with facets of known science. By all accounts the physical makeup of the creature most closely resembles a plesiosaur, and this is nearly invariable. However what we know of reptile physiology and biology makes it exceedingly unlikely, if not impossible, that a marine reptile of any type could ever survive, let alone thrive as a viable population, in the extremely cold waters of Loch Ness, a lake which is downright near frigid even in the warmer summer season. So the physical characteristics reported just don't match the facts of the environment, which makes the mystery that much deeper. And that much more frustrating. But there IS something there, of that there can be no reasonable doubt in my opinion.
DeleteYeah Frank thats the point ive always made..just cus the description of sightings resemble a plesiosaur doesnt mean thats what it is! Holiday's tulliimunstrem prooved that there is things out there that we probably havnt discovered that cud fit the descriptuon of a plesiosaur type.. hence my reference to the tullimunstrem :-) .i think if there is anything in loch ness it cud be summit new to science or summit evolved..who knows....well lets hope if there is summit there it pops up soon when im sitting by the loch emjoying a few beers!!! ....Roy
DeleteI'm reading the first 2 Holiday books at the moment. They're excellent, it almost feels like you're there with him, and this was before I was even born. Just my opinion, but the plesiosaur, in the form we understand it, is a non starter, and the descriptions vary quite a bit. Far too much for me to believe there is one type of animal responsible for all the sightings. Maybe we have the odd glimpse into another world? The parallel universe theories in physics are gaining a bit of momentum, and who's to say what there is, just a wavelength away? Maybe Holiday was many years ahead of his time.
DeleteI was a Nessie paranormalist in the past. It, of course, answers a lot of questions due to the malleability of the theory unhindered by the laws of biology and physics. Needless to say, it can generate more questions than it answers hence my return to the zoological fold.
DeleteI understand fully why you take the position you do, I have just read so many eyewitness statements that do not add up, only in the sense of adding up to just one animal. But I realise that I have the luxury of this view, while others like yourself may not have.
DeleteThis article reminds me of a facet to the mystery I was recently thinking about: Mr Cameron sees something and almost faints, the incredible land sightings, a boat almost being hit in 1930, the vivid and terrifying underwater sightings, the Greta Findlay close up sighting with her son, Dinsdale's on the spot conversion to a new life long cause... etc etc - whatever you believe there seemed to be so much more drama to the events in the past. If witnesses were lying they were at least lying BIG and with much more imagination!
ReplyDeleteA new sighting is always a good thing. Im sure if anyone can track this photograph down its you Roland.
ReplyDeleteMeh! I'll just wait for the press release this time.
DeleteSo no more on this ?? Maybe sumone has seen the foto and realised its not much! Sadly a few tourists do get taken in by boat wakes or waves ie mr elders video in fort augustus couple years back. The rib boats in fort augustus do give off big waves and wakes and do sumtimes look mysterious!! Well im just charging my video camera and camera ready for my trip...hopefully i can get a god shot of something lol....cant wait to be sitting overlooking loch with a tennents in my hand...and the weather forecast is decent!! Roll on....Roy
ReplyDeleteI know this is a serious blog, studying a physical animal; still, I can't help but have a weird gut feeling about the possibility that what is being witnessed is a) a ghost, b) an alternate reality or c) something related, that we simply can't understand due to our limited perception of reality. Long time bigfoot students often seem to walk away with a new, stranger view that they either don't talk about, or find readily dismissed by "experts" believing a giant ape species is sneaking around North America, ninja-style. No disrespect intended ... I've studied this topic since I could read and get a library card (early 80s) and find Roy Mackal's work to make the most sense to me, given logical possibilities and reports of "giant frogs."
ReplyDeleteWee dude got photo of nessie on his iphone its on national geographic channel right now started at 1am thought u should chk it glasgow boy much luv
