Gareth Williams was briefly interviewed last Friday on BBC Radio 4 regarding his latest book, "A Monstrous Commotion". If you go to the podcast, jump about five minutes before the end to find it. It is available for another few weeks.
Meanwhile, I bought this nice painting of Loch Ness and its monster on eBay. I like it.
I owned this painting once. I sold it a few years ago. Strange to see it again. Is yours definitely the original like mine was and not a print?
ReplyDeleteIt's original, but it could have been inspired by another picture.
DeleteNice (I presume painting with oils) It portrays a dark mystical/haunting presence, to me, with very dark shades and light. Good purchase, it sets the mood of the Loch.
ReplyDeleteDaz
Daz what happened to your 3D sonar trip?
DeleteWe held an end of term debate at our school last week. The cases for and against the existence of a real animal loch ness monster were put. The definition was an animal of a so far undiscovered species.
ReplyDeleteThe result was 93% said it didn't exist, 4% said it did exist and 3% were undecided. 322 pupils voted.
Hmmm, so you were okay with plesiosaurs (a discovered species)? I wonder if the percentages would have moved toward "did exist" if I had been given a chance to speak?
DeleteIt was made clear that 'undiscovered' included species believed to be extinct.
DeleteYour articles and book were quoted extensively by the For team. There was a small shift towards the Against team over the course of the debate. I doubt anything you would have said would have shifted the balance.
The debate was agreed to have been great fun by all. One witty comment was that it was 30 years past Nessie's sell by date. A bit harsh!
If you were quoting this blog and my book "extensively", you'd still be debating!
DeleteBzzzzt!
