A couple of years ago there was a petition by Change.org to change the national coat of arms of Scotland from the unicorn and lion to a stylized image of the LNM. I don't think that went over very well. I wonder how this proposal will go. Not to good, I suspect. At least they don't want to call it The Inverness Loch Ness “Monster” Airport. Somethings just aren't meant for change, nor should they.
I personally think this should be a decision entirely left to the residents of Inverness. While I have a keen interest in Loch Ness, I can understand why people might not want their city airport renamed to include a body of water.
Nice one, thanks for posting this Roland. To me, if the Highlands want more visitors then this is the easiest and cheapest way to achieve that.

ReplyDeleteI made my comment before checking the Twitter poll final results. Overwhelmingly a big No. Yes: 22% No: 78% Just as I would have thought.
ReplyDeleteThis is a shame as I thought it was a good idea, and harmless.

ReplyDeleteOr it's monster! Yeah, some might find the notion ridiculous.
