The z shape being the ancient equivalent of the diagonal cross on road signs or indeed the ghostbusters symbol. Brian swore to me that he saw a large sea creature, happy to discuss!

Good evening Mr Drinnon,
Always had an interest in Cryptozoology (via my love of the 'Fortean Times' magazine and Mr Karl Shuker), Your website is always educating, interesting, and intriguing,

As with all these crypto subjects I'd like tell you a story about a friend of mine (yes I know)! My friend (he's dead now) was called David Brian Plummer, (he's quite famous in the UK as he bred/devised The Plummer Terrier) He had the (in)famous fact that his books on dogs are the most stolen from British Libraries, Anyway, he used to live in Caithness, NE Scotland. He had a boat and he used to fish for Pollack (a Cod type fish) off the Orkney Isles. He told me (swore on the Bible etc) that he saw a Sea Monster (Plesiosaur type) he said it was marked like a Giraffe? and he said they were often spotted (witnessed, poor choice of words) between the Orkney and Shetland Isles.
He was honest and I believed him!

Thanks for your website
John Hay
1https://www.blogger.com/profile/05443194833179946453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-76908767172967051722017-01-15T05:38:56.665-08:002017-01-15T05:38:56.665-08:00Fascinating stuff indeed. Ive always marvelled at the carvings and how clear they are, and mostly of animals we know about, apart from the beast/ dolphin one which is a mystery in itself.Nessie hunterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16229224123946060762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-5935516643554002312017-01-14T05:59:39.740-08:002017-01-14T05:59:39.740-08:00The correlation between the carvings and the folk ...The correlation between the carvings and the folk reports is interesting, if there is any. But the carvings are clearly not scattered, meaning that the carvers had a purpose in mind for placing them where they are. Or are they just high concentration areas of Pictish settlements?
