Wouldn't this be superior to sonar in identifying underwater animals ? If this thermal camera can be used under the Loch surface wouldn't it easily spot all aquatic life or is the Loch temperature going to reduce the body temp of any fish or Nessie too much to be visible ?
If Nessie submerges beneath the bottom silt layer would she be visible on a thermal camera? This is especially so in the context of the surrounding water which will be a lot lower and provide a decent contrast in thermal signatures.
Glasgow Boyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03597014995112568086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-5291328494646944812018-03-22T01:38:51.040-07:002018-03-22T01:38:51.040-07:00If 'nessie' is cold blooded would it show ...If 'nessie' is cold blooded would it show up on thermal imaging ??bodge from suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11132211236189398270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-19314798553904127072018-03-21T21:19:15.589-07:002018-03-21T21:19:15.589-07:00This is exciting stuff Roland.
My only concern i...This is exciting stuff Roland.

My only concern is if Nessie is cold blooded, could her heat signature appear nearly nonexistent in the frigid waters? I have seen many images of Snakes recorded on Flir cameras, and they are often discernible from the background because of their body typing. I'm interested to hear your thoughts!

Best of luck. I'd love to have the opportunity to fly a night vision drone over Loch Ness!
Mandaranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06501811365650431961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-36016623412220887082018-03-21T15:16:47.197-07:002018-03-21T15:16:47.197-07:00It says it can detect a vehicle sized object (2.3m...It says it can detect a vehicle sized object (2.3m sq) at 900m.
Glasgow Boyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03597014995112568086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-59433978824799281862018-03-21T15:09:44.001-07:002018-03-21T15:09:44.001-07:00What kind of range does the Flir have?
