It was probably the biggest show in the world at the time, and it was great to see Loch Ness (and Shiel and Morar too i recall) get a mention.

On a side note - some amount of driftwood, flotsum, jetsam and general crap has been washed up on Dores beach by this stormy weather over the past week. Just shows the amount of debris that floats around in the loch.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-75400486170296517062014-10-27T23:41:32.199-07:002014-10-27T23:41:32.199-07:00OT, and apologies if you've seen this already:...OT, and apologies if you've seen this already:

http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2014/10/england-once-plotted-to-kidnap-the-loch-ness-monster/
NSnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-77362897654931771362014-10-27T14:38:51.997-07:002014-10-27T14:38:51.997-07:00My "beg" was on a wider scale. I suspect tapes like that were long wiped and reused for other programs. A lot of BBC programs from the 60s and 70s were dumped. The long running saga of the many lost Doctor Who episodes is a prime example.
Glasgow Boyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03597014995112568086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-58828080394329342722014-10-26T07:34:42.319-07:002014-10-26T07:34:42.319-07:00A miscarriage of justice in 1968 which has come to...A miscarriage of justice in 1968 which has come to light in the years since :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-44956748529925344872014-10-25T22:18:19.163-07:002014-10-25T22:18:19.163-07:00I remember the July 1968 courtroom style debate te...I remember the July 1968 courtroom style debate televised by BBC on a Saturday night during peak viewing time. Timm Dinsdale and Ted Holiday both appeared as witnesses. The verdict delivered by the "jury" was that the Loch Ness monster existed.
There was also at some time during the mid to late sixties , a Blue Peter item on the monster. This included extracts from the Dinsdale film and other filmed evidence. Either in this programme or another item broadcast duting the sixties, the LNIB film of a distant sighting on the shore was shown plus (I think) an extract from the Taylor film.
Finally, at some time (probably about 1960 when I would have been 10 so details are vague!) I remember listening to a children's radio programme "Nature Parliament" where Peter Scott and others debated the possible existence of unknown animals in Loch Ness.

chris morrisnoreply@blogger.com
