I believe there cud be a few things that resemble the shape of a plesiosaur that we havnt discovered. The tullimunstrem was a new one..thought not as big of course!! And i believe an ageing big newt type of amphibian thats thickened in the midrift cud look plesiosaur like when moving in certain ways especially if the middle rises( which happpens) to give off a hump! An intrestin sighting u will find was mid 90's near dores ..seen by 3 diffrent parties at same time in evening...2 of the groups drew what they saw..intrestingly the neck wasnt swan like it was more straight on with big hump behind it...i can imagine a large newt type creature giving offf this image. Yeah roy( great name) makal favoured a large amphibian in beginning but for me he tried to fit a long neck in saying it was evolved so it cud fit nessie description...he then changed his mind a few times..classic example of none of us knowing wat it is..guesswork really.new discovery for me jn my humble..cheerrs RoyROYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07593737226241908577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-5324897950313578102018-10-29T09:49:14.920-07:002018-10-29T09:49:14.920-07:00Yeah, could be amphibian. I was just referring to ...Yeah, could be amphibian. I was just referring to your tail as head and neck comment as an answer to such sightings. And yes Mackal was a proponent of the amphibian theory. His list of candidates ran the gamut from mollusk, sirenian, amphibian, thick bodied eel (my favorite), to the zeuglodon. I think he finally gave up on Nessie and went looking for Mokele-mbembe in deep darkest Africa. I believe we have something which breathes underwater, displays at least one large protruding hump, and also a pole-like appendage. Due to the latter I think there’s something more than large catfish in there. Though I concede that a number of hump sightings could possibly be down to catfish. I’ve arrived at the conclusion that land sightings are in the most part mistakes and hoaxes, but I remain open to the possibility that a small percentage may be genuine.Naturewatch Enghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03062985122288755141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-73222175863728411562018-10-29T02:38:16.880-07:002018-10-29T02:38:16.880-07:00I have always felt it could be an amphibian John A...I have always felt it could be an amphibian John Alvarado.I remember reading Mackal's book and thinking the amphibian fitted the bill because they could breathe underwater.GEZZAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09093032226034742612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-31630916622083905152018-10-27T18:19:58.520-07:002018-10-27T18:19:58.520-07:00Sounds like you've been visiting Steve Plambec...Sounds like you've been visiting Steve Plambeck's site Gezza. The truth is nobody knows and all the different opinions are fantastic. I think it is an unknown creature..maybe an evolved one of one we know..cud be a strange shaped fish( like one washed up after tsunami) that looks like the shape of sightings or maybe an amphibian with a newt thpe shape where stretching out cud give off a thicker middle therefore making the front look like a neck! Plus we cant rule out an unknown reptile as they have prooved they can adapt to colder waters ie.terrapins and turtles and some have adapted other ways to breathe and stay under water for long long periods! Also ted holiday prooved that there is things out out there with similar shapes to sightings that we dont know about! Catfish dont fit any sighting reports and no history of them bin introduced that far up! As unlikely as Steve Plambeck's Giant Salamander, unlikely, but not impossible in that case. Adrian Shine has his Sturgeon in lieu of a better candidate, Dick Raynor has nothing, but continues to search for an explanation. At least they're not as closed minded as other staunch skeptics who proclaim absolutely nothing there but hallucinations, imaginations and mistaken identities. I may be wrong, but I think GB has surmised once or twice that it could be a big fish type creature with an appendage breaking the surface that could be mistaken for a neck, one of his best guesses. But that doesn't account for the land sightings! He may be pulling my leg on that one. I am more apt to think in terms of a giant eel like creature a la Roy Mackal's mutated, thick bodied eel. So, you see, everybody has they're own opinions and best guesses. Anything but a Plesiosaur, please! OK, an evolved Plesiosaur, happy? As far as I'm concerned it's still up in the air. But anything is possible!...I guess... except me winning the lottery and living to 150 to enjoy it. If it finally turned out to be Steve's giant catfish, within my lifetime, I'll personally go up there to Loch Ness and kiss his arse!John Alvaradohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18069155979480353745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-74278260674813069552018-10-26T15:04:33.929-07:002018-10-26T15:04:33.929-07:00Nice to clear things up Steve, but catfish in loch...Nice to clear things up Steve, but catfish in loch ness? He is making a ten minute portrait of a monster hunter that turns into an advert. The type you see in the cinema when by accident you have arrived too early for the film. It is filmed specifically for that big screen feel, very high quality.
He has a wish to make it into a film but as yet no plans.
This was all told to Mike merritt the reporter, but he chose to write his story instead, playing up the future film, and playing down what we are currently up to.
You should bare in mind that it was Mike 3 years ago that told the world that I was quiting hunting because I was convinced nessie is a catfish, again he got the wrong end of the stick, on that occasion I only said to him that catfish was my best current guess, not the final solution. Also I never told him that I was quiting, nor returning to dorset. That was his creative additions.
I think that last time I posted in this group I mentioned that most of the current pictures that are making it into the media are coming via this same reporter.
As to my private life, myself and Hilary have been partners for about 12 or 13 years now, maybe more. We once had a "wedding ceremony" in an inflatable church at RockNess Festival, not recognised legally an unofficial bonding in front of a large number of our friends. Enough for us. So no iam not 'married'
Hilary has a house in town, I have my home here on Dores beach. Everything I own is here in my van, this is my home. A couple of nights a week I may stay at hilarys once or twice a week she might stay here at dores, well she will if its sunny anyway.
So to put your minds at rest, my home is here on Dores beach, the vast amount of my time is spent watching and pondering this beautiful loch, hunting for answers here is what I consider I do, nothings set in stone about a film, don't believe all that Mike merritt writes... and that Dodd of shite on the holiday cottage window does clearly demonstrate the most plausible explanation ofwhat must have happened, a landscape photograph can only line up correctly to one point, and that photograph only lines up on that cottage. All you have to do is walk up to it and you will be forced to agree.... Maybe next time your up?
