Welcome to the Loch Ness Blog

Hello,

I have followed Nessie since I was a bright eyed and bushy tailed youngster many moons ago. My views on what Nessie may be have changed but my overall belief that something big and unusual lurks beneath the waters of Loch Ness has not changed.

In this day when anything beyond so called science and fallible human reason is under increasing derision, this blog defends the thesis that the Loch Ness Monster is more than just misconceptions.

Of course we will also follow the personalities and places that have helped shape the Nessie story.

  1. I hope you can help me renew my faith in something mysterious in the Loch. 25 years later I'm losing hope.

  2. This is a fantastic blog, it’s great to see up to date views on the well know stories from a knowledgeable and skilled writer that makes each article enjoyable reading. Even though I’m more of a critical thinker and I've tried to bring a bit of a balance to some of the articles I still love the Loch Ness story and all things Nessie, and I really commend the blogs author for putting in all this work. Putting my cards on the table I'm sure there isn't a "monster" or large creature in the Loch, however I still love the history and all the adventures behind it.

  3. Worked my way all the way through your back catalogue of blog posts to get here. Been reading your blog on and off for the last 5 years. It's very, very good. First went to Loch Ness when I was 7 and my dad said that I claimed to see it every half hour or so. I was a fairly strong believer until I was about 16/17 when I read Campbell's 1986 book which was a funny experience - the evidence seemed to me so vivid - but then he said it doesn't exist in the final paragraph and it really affected me. And I kept thinking: If there's any sort of tradition then there must be a breeding population so it should be easy to find it. But it's not and the more we look the less we see. I have personally concluded that there may have been a large, one off creature (how it got there I have no idea) which is now dead. That said I go to the Loch every couple of years with my girlfriend and we look for it still. I'm 38 and absolutely none of my contemporaries will even talk to me about the possibility of there ever having been a creature. Anyway you don't need my life story, this is a great blog Rolland. And although I consider myself skeptical and technically a non believer I am very intrigued by both positions as I find the whole phenomena fascinating.
