And that was probably why it happened. But it also seems likely that the son was a sceptic - not considering the research to be worth anything - otherwise, unless there was some bizarre and sinister reason behind it all ('what devilry has my father unleashed') it would still be a very odd thing to do.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09433378864753717951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-41940846274514985672014-12-03T14:47:44.251-08:002014-12-03T14:47:44.251-08:00And Gould is well remembered! And Gould is well remembered!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-66439009447631706772014-12-02T19:42:30.349-08:002014-12-02T19:42:30.349-08:00A researcher once said that two people could do th...A researcher once said that two people could do the same work, but one would be remembered and the other forgotten solely based on what their heirs did with their papers.NSnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-61676411434106334772014-12-02T13:18:32.161-08:002014-12-02T13:18:32.161-08:00Not really, I am currently researching a new artic...Not really, I am currently researching a new article and don't want the distraction. I find this article mostly interesting, but once again I am a little disappointed by the direction you seem to be heading.

We have seen the to-ing and fro-ing conversations between both sides. Point scoring has been the name of the game on many occasions. You have pointed this out several times. From the fence it has always seemed to me that both sides have been guilty of this.

But there are parts of this article I really cannot comprehend. Are we really to accept that a man disposing of his deceased father's papers is an act of scepticism? From my standpoint I would be rather more inclined to believe this was an act related to the documented disliking of Gould by his son Cecil. A man is hardly likely to dislike his parent purely for investigating a lake monster, is he? It would appear clear that other matters were afoot within the Gould family.

Returning to the subject of point scoring, do you really stand by this article in its entirety? Do you feel that the last paragraph met your usual standards?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-82384635480108428982014-12-01T14:54:08.286-08:002014-12-01T14:54:08.286-08:00Christmas is coming, Scrooges should stay on topic...Christmas is coming, Scrooges should stay on topic.

Glasgow Boyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03597014995112568086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-358999656752738469.post-73581409274346303452014-12-01T12:25:20.747-08:002014-12-01T12:25:20.747-08:00Deleted!

I think it's incredibly cheap to suggest that the disposal of these items was the result of scepticism. Who knows - there may be all kinds of explanations for this act, and the reasons might be purely down to issues that existed between father and son.

In answer to your last paragraph, I'm afraid there is no comparison between sceptics doubting eyewitness accounts and the throwing away of files. If I don't believe a report, it hardly makes it vanish from your website, does it? I've proven to you that one particular photo is not a monster, yet still it adorns your website. No evidence is ever lost due to people questioning it!Geordie Scepticnoreply@blogger.com
